“Hitch” (as he is known by here at home) was sired by Cowhouse’s Buddy (Ch Stones Throw’s Colby G X Ch Goldstar’s Mucho Cleo) and his dam is UKC Show Champion Janie’s Bella (Ch Stones Throw’s Colby G X Ch Goldstar’s Marie Laveau). Hitch has a COI (Inbreeding Coefficient) of 12.5% and an ancestor loss coefficient of 60%. Hitch stands about 23 inches at the withers and weighs about 62 pounds. He gets his name from the character, Deputy “Everett Hitch,” in the movie, “Appaloosa.”
Hitch bays nicely in the bay pen and will not catch. That is a preferred attribute in BAYPEN COMPETITION. He comes from a long line of working catahoulas with great dogs like Stones Throw’s Colby G directly on his pedigree
Hitch is very level headed working cattle. He is keeping enough presence of mind to drive calves without being rough. He has been known to stop a bull solid though. Hitch’s mother and father have a few good cow dogs directly on their pedigree as well, including the great Cowhouse bitch, Gold Star’s Mucho Cleo. “Cleo” took the Novice Cow Dog award at the NALC Texas show on her first rattle out of the box. She kept working solid right through the rest of her life giving birth to numerous successful working cowdogs on ranches and in cowdog trial settings.
Hitch is an NALC and UKC registered blue leopard with rust trim and was whelped July 4, 2012. Hitch is registered with the National Association of Louisiana Catahoulas and with the United Kennel Club. He is quiet in the show ring and willing for judges’ examinations. He likes to please his exhibitor for sure.
Hitch’s Great Paternal Grandfather, “Smokey” was an NALC Treeing Champion back in his hey day. Hitch is quiet on the trail with varmits and coon abut will give voice once the critters are up off the ground. He trees much like a red bone hound. Hitch blood trails throughout the fall and winter each year as well.
